PUDUCHERRY: JIPMER has been declared as National Data Recovery Centre (NDRC) for Telemedicine in the country by the Ministry of Health and family welfare (MoH&FW), Government of India as part of its constant efforts towards achieving better patient care through Telemedicine .
In a release Jipmer Director Dr S C Parija said that MoH&FW has already declared JIPMER as Regional Resource Centre (RRC) for Telemedicine for Medical Colleges of South India (Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Telangana) in 2013. JIPMER is fully equipped with infrastructure and ready to develop National Data Recovery Centre. He added that NDRC is to recover Country’s Data related to Telemedicine from JIPMER in the event of loss of Telemedicine Data. The project will be supported by the MoH&FW, GOI. Among all the Institutes JIPMER has been selected by MoH&FW.
A high level meeting was conducted here under the chairmanship of Jipmer Director Dr.Parija which was attended by MoH&FW deputed RAILTEL Engineer Micheal, Dr.Balachander, Medical Supdt., Dr.G.K.Pal, JIPMER Project Consultant, Dr.Ravikumar Chitoria, Nodal officer-JIPMER for telemedicine among others.
Inspection was done by RAILTEL engineer who inspected the NKN (National Knowledge Centre) Router, available space and infrastructure in JIPMER.
