CHENNAI: The Madras Substantial Courtroom today dismissed a PIL searching for a path to the authorities to near down liquor retailers in flood-hit regions of Tamil Nadu.
The first bench comprising Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice Pushpa Sathyanarayana dismissed the PIL by Kanimozhi, an advocate, stating that it was a plan make a difference of the government and courts can’t interfere in it.
Kanimozhi contended that Chennai, Tiruvallur and Cuddalore districts ended up severely influenced in the current floods and people in these areas have dropped almost almost everything and finding it tough to get foods and shelter. Operating the authorities-owned Tamil Nadu Condition Advertising and marketing Company shops, which sells alcoholic drinks in these areas, would additional wreck their livelihood, she submitted.
Dismissing the PIL, the judges mentioned it was for the Federal government to take a choice on the issue.
