PANAJI: Responding to recurring criticism of his dressing feeling, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Sunday questioned his critics not to choose him on the basis of the clothes he wears but on his functionality.
Parrikar was talking at a perform in Panaji organised by the Goa device of the Bharatiya Janata Party to rejoice the previous Goa chief minister’s sixtieth birthday.
“Why choose individuals from the clothing they wear? I have not joined the military. I have not joined the navy. I have not joined the air force. To join that is difficult, it is less complicated to join politics,” Parrikar stated.
The defence minister said he has received several communications from retired army officials asking him to dress in a more official bandhgala for official features of his ministry.
“Many retired military officials compose to me, telling me to use the bandhgala, which I use abroad, at functions. I wear it there since I symbolize India, for that reason, I dress in a formal dress. Why put on it for a function of my possess office,” Parrikar stated.
